All Blogs Page 1 Of 1 Repotting Posted On 2007-03-14 , 11:50 PM My wife, who grows orchids herself, suggests you break the plant into two or three and replant in medium pots or transfer the whole olant into a larger pot, no harm in cutting back excessive root growth when repotting. If the plant is big you can cut it with a sharp knife down the middle. Remebmber they are quite sturdy. Dirk and Phyllis Overgrown root system Posted On 2007-03-14 , 11:45 PM I've purchased a Phalaenopsis Orchid that is doing very well but it has plant parts growing out of the pot that I think are roots. They are a little larger in diameter than a pencil and are green. If they are roots, should the plant be repotted and the roots covered? If they're not roots, what are they and should I still repot the plant? I've been reading everything I can get ahold of and I've not seen this subject discussed and I've not seen these objects in any photos. This is my first orchid so I really am clueless. Thanks for any help you can offer. Steve Your comments Posted On 2007-03-12 , 7:37 PM Hello and welcome to you all. This blog is for you to air your comments and add them to this page. All Welcome.
